Resilient

In 2022 The Galion City School District introduced the Galion Graduate Profile, created with input from our amazing teachers, administrators, staff, students, and families. This profile, commonly referred to as a Portrait of a Tiger, is the roadmap for developing well-rounded, successful Galion graduates.

The seven key traits are: Resilience, Self-Discipline, Involvement, Empathy, Integrity, Balance, and Problem-Solving. These traits are seen in our most successful students, and we want all students to embody them throughout their education and beyond.

Since this initiative was launched, students from each building are recognized monthly for demonstrating one of these traits. This year we are stepping up to include the recognition of Galion's staff members. All staff members, no matter the position they hold, have a part in teaching these traits; whether it be in the cafeteria, on the bus, in the classroom, or by example.

Resilience is the trait that is focused on in the month of October.

Tigers are resilient. They learn from past challenges in order to aid in future successes. By focusing on their circle of control, Tigers show resilience through their response to tough situations and utilize their strengths and system of support to overcome challenges.

Through the development of the skill of resilience, we are teaching our Tigers a lifelong skill necessary to become thriving members of our world and cope with the stressors and challenges adulthood will bring.

Selects students and staff members who are chosen for demonstration of resilience will be recognized at the Board of Education meeting on Oct 15, 2024.

As mentors, teachers, and family members, the best way we can support our Tigers’ development is by leading by example. Let’s all strive to live out these values!
